Your guide to Bonnaroo Music Festival

Crowd at Music Festival

If you are fortunate enough to land a pass to the 2015 Bonnaroo Music Festival, you will enjoy a weekend full of music, art, discoveries and the freedom of outdoors. To maximize your fun, plan ahead so that you can party with your friends and stay safe. Here is your personal survival guide to the Bonnaroo Music Festival – where to stay, what to wear and pack, how to stay safe and insider tips to have the most fun.

How to Get There

The festival is located on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee during the week of June 11. Once you get into the line to enter the festival, make certain you have a full tank of gas because there are no gas stations or restrooms on-site. You can also set your radio station to WFTZ 101.5 FM as you inch closer to Manchester to get announcements and listen to soundtracks from the various acts at the festival.

Where to Stay

Many choose to camp on the fairgrounds at Bonnaroo. You have the option of parking your RV or pitching your own tent. The facilities also offer tent rentals and RV rentals. The camping option usually sells out quickly, so if that is something you are considering, you have to act fast.

What to Wear

The fun of the Bonnaroo Festival is dressing up and getting into the complete experience. It is all about attitude, so bring a full body suit, dress up in spandex or wear a superhero costume if you choose. It does get hot, though, so if you want to change, pack a pair of shorts, sunglasses and a white T-shirt with flip-flops to stay cool. Bring a backpack to store essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, a hat, a comfortable pair of shoes and water.

What to Pack

The big crowds prevent people from getting anywhere fast. To be prepared, here is a list of items you should pack:

  • water in a plastic bottle (no glass bottles allowed)
  • cash
  • hand sanitizer
  • aspirin
  • toilet paper
  • phone charger
  • raincoat
  • lightweight towel
  • folding chair

This isn’t an all-inclusive list, so make certain you pack based on your individual needs.

How to Stay Safe

It is easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget certain basic safety tips. In terms of protecting your health, it is hot, so apply sunscreen, wear breathable clothing and don’t forget your hat. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. You can have an enjoyable experience if you practice common sense during the concert.

General Insider Tips

Bonnaroo showcases four days of fun with must-see performances. Plan ahead to determine which acts you want to catch. Have a carefree attitude and try to be in the present moment. Although you may want to memorialize the moments and post them on Facebook and Instagram, try to immerse yourself in the experience without worrying about publicizing it. Break up your day to stay out of the heat and don’t forget to hydrate. Overdoing on the booze is tempting, but don’t do it.
