The robots take the first step at becoming our overlords with the Video Streaming Robotic Projectionist.
Projecting an 80″ picture on any surface from 9 3/4′ away, this mobile robot frees cat videos from the tiny confines of phone screens. Now it’s possibly to be distracted anywhere, and the robots will take over as we watch cute kitties jump into too-small boxes.
A free app for Apple iOS and Android devices lets you control the robot (for now), a 5-watt speaker provides sound to go along with the 720p HD projection, and you can even alter the image’s orientation, adjust the volume level, change content, and schedule a specific time and place for a pre-planned picture show.
Regarding the robot itself, ultrasonic obstacle sensors prevent the robot from colliding into walls, furniture, or pets, and when not in use, the robot automatically returns to its charging station, which plugs into a computer via the included USB cable. A two-hour charge provides two hours of projection power (at 50% brightness).
You can purchase it for $2500 at Hammacher Schlemmer.
