The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will have a giant map

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

(From Geeks of Doom) CD Projekt RED officially announced the third game in The Witcher franchise, titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and already some very exciting details are making their way out.

The game marks the third and final game in the story of Geralt of Rivia, though the studio isn’t closing the door on other installments—similarly to what BioWare is doing with Mass Effect.

Everyone assumes that the game will be a next-gen console game, as CD Projekt is making it with REDengine 3 and has declared that it will be for PC and “all high-end platforms available.”

Perhaps the most impressive thing is the size of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. According to sources, the game’s map will be thirty times bigger than The Witcher 2 was, and even bigger than Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

On top of all of that, it’s said that this massive size doesn’t involve any load screens.

The map is so big, that there will be two forms of transportation made available.

Geralt will be able to travel by horseback, or he can get where he’s going by boat.

Apparently it will take around 30 to 40 minutes to travel from one side of the map to the other by horseback.

The game will also supposedly be doing away with “quick time events,” which is when you’re fighting an enemy and are prompted to hit a certain button at the correct moment to successfully defeat said enemy.
