The pop-up liquid keyboard

(From The Sun) This is the world’s first ever touchscreen tablet with “pop-up” button technology – liquid keys which dissolve into the screen when they aren’t being used.

Fluids built into the tactile layer of your device form to create a solid keyboard on demand.

Experts say the revolutionary “microfluidic” technology could soon be used in smartphones, cars and even game controllers – anything with a touchscreen.

It could mean an end to troublesome typing on devices which up until now have had vibrating buttons at best.

US boffins in California have developed the technology, which will begin production at the end of this year.

The firm behind the idea, Tactus, said: “This is not a trick of your senses using vibration or stimulation, but rather real physical buttons that rise out of the surface of the screen.”
