Dedicated fans are counting down the days until The Walking Dead returns to screens next month.

And an an ominous poster for the second half of the zombie show’s fourth season has the red-lettered warning “DON’T LOOK BACK”.

The new poster shows series star Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and his son Carl, portrayed by Chandler Riggs, walking together on railroad tracks.

Dark clouds hover over the father and son as they are making their way about in a world infested by zombies.

Young Carl is in the foreground of the poster wearing his father’s sheriff’s deputy hat and looking over his left shoulder.

His father Rick is a few paces ahead of him and staring off to his right.

Rick and Carl look to be on their own after their prison sanctuary was destroyed at the end of the first half of the fourth season.

A preview trailer for the upcoming episodes showed Carl taking an increased role ensuring the safety of himself and his father.

The second half of the show’s fourth season will premiere on February 9 on AMC.
