(From The Independent) Disney has offered a first, real glimpse of the Star Wars land set to open at Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney Resort in Orlando.
Forming part of ABC’s televised special Disneyland 60, celebrating the park’s landmark anniversary, the short segment was introduced by none other than Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford. Primarily revealed were a few key pieces of concept art for the lands, keeping specific rides a secret, yet teasing the area’s general atmosphere.
Initially announced last August at Disney’s D23 Expo, the Star Wars lands will mark the company’s single biggest park expansion, currently primed for 14 acres each; bigger even than the planned Avatar land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The area will see guests enter a “never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life”; including the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon, step into the battle between the First Order and the Resistance, taste local delicacies, and visit a cantina.
