C1-10P chopper

(From Daily Mail) The next robotic hero from a galaxy far, far away has arrived.

Chopper, also known as C1-10P is the latest Star Wars droid set to feature in the upcoming animated series, Star Wars Rebels.

Designed by artists from Lucasfilm and Disney, Chopper is based on original concept work for original droid R2-D2.He was unveiled during a media preview event at the Nuremburg Toy Fair.

‘We very consciously went all the way back to Ralph McQuarrie concepts for R2-D2,’ explained Kilian Plukett, art director on Star Wars Rebels.

Chopper is described as being ‘lazy, cantankerous and cranky’. He is an astromechanic droid that works on the rebel starship Ghost.

The story of Star Wars Rebels takes place approximately 14 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, and four years before Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

The Emperor is in power and the Empire is seeking to expand its power to the Outer Rim territories.

The series will be aired on Disney Channel and Disney XD channels in the Autumn.
