Inflatable concert hall

(From Lost at e Minor) The areas still recovering from the 2011 Japanese tsunami will play host to the Ark Nova this month when the Swiss Lucerne Festival launches a 3-week musical tour.

Ark Nova is an 18-meter high PVC-coated polyester inflatable concert hall — no, really!

It was designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and British sculptor Anish Kapoor and houses 500 music fans, seated on carved cedar wood trees (damaged by the floods).

The Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra will play here and then guests will be treated to traditional Japanese Kabuki theater, jazz and more.
