Release date confirmed for Assassin’s Creed movie

(From Den of Geek) Might the Assassin’s Creed movie be doing battle with The Avengers 2 and Star Wars: Episode VII?

UbiSoft isn’t messing around in its ambitions to bring the Assassin’s Creed franchise to the movies, and hopefully in the process break the curse of the videogame film.

The early recruitment work it did certainly did no harm winning people over to its side, with Michael Fassbender signed on the star and produce in the film.

There’s still no director attached to the Assassin’s Creed movie, but we do now have a release date. The film has been earmarked for North American cinemas on May 22nd 2015.

That puts it three weeks after the release of The Avengers 2, and possibly just a week or two away from Star Wars: Episode VII (the formal release date to which hasn’t been announced yet).

There’s stiff competition awaiting Assassin’s Creed in summer 2015.

New ‘Star Wars’ animated series set for 2014

Reeling from the recent cancellation of Star Wars: The Clone Wars? You may be pleased to know that Disney/Lucasfilm just announced a new animated series in the massive sci-fi universe.

The series is called Star Wars Rebels, and it’s set between Star Wars: Episode III and Star Wars: Episode IV in what Disney’s press release writers call “an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen.”

The series is coming to Disney XD, currently planned for a fall of 2014 arrival.

The show will start will a one-hour premiere episode penned by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes), who will also act as an executive producer on the show.

The pilot script for Alfonso Cuarón’s Believe

(From io9) One of our most highly anticipated TV shows coming this fall is Believe, the Alfonso Cuarón-scripted series about a young girl with remarkable powers. Now it appears that the entire pilot script has popped up online.
J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot will be producing the series for NBC, with Cuarón directing.
SpoilerTV spotted what looks like a draft of the full pilot script, co-written by Cuarón and Mark Friedman.
Believe surrounds Bo, a young girl with strange and dangerous abilities who has been raised by a group known as the “True Believers,” and Tate, the man who has been tapped to be her fulltime protector.

(From Gizmodo) Converse’s Chuck Taylor All-Star sneakers may never go out of style, but just in case you can future-proof them with this fun hack from Adafruit that swaps out the standard star crest with a glowing logo.
Presumably, just like Elroy Jetson used to wear.
Unless you work in an electronics laboratory, the hack does require you to buy a few things.
Like an electroluminescent panel and an inverter, which are both conveniently sold through the Adafruit website.
But that doesn’t take away from the fact that this hack is a simple and subtle way to make your kicks stand out, particularly if you like the look of All-Stars, but hate that absolutely everyone wears them.

The new internet craze is koalaing

(From Daily Mail) First it was planking and then owling but now an even stranger craze inspired by an iconic Australian animal is sweeping the internet – koalaing.
Thousands of people across the globe have taken up the bizarre trend which sees participants clinging onto various objects – and even other people – like a koala bear.
The stunt, which has gone viral, is a development of the planking craze which saw people taking pictures of themselves lying face down in strange locations.
This was swiftly followed by owling in which participants perched on top of a variety of platforms like an owl.
American star Ellen DeGeneres recently sent the world crazy for koalaing after mentioning the trend on her hit TV show and encouraging viewers to spontaneously hug someone.
The trend has become a big hit on Twitter, where those taking part have posted bizarre pictures of themselves attached to various telegraph polls and other items alongside the hashtag #koalaing.
The craze has involved people from across the world from the UK and the Czech Republic to Australia.
Some of those who took part in the planking craze injured themselves while trying to pose in a variety of dangerous places.

New trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins

Warner Bros. Entertainment has released a new full trailer for the highly anticipated game Batman: Arkham Origins, and it’s nearly 5-minutes long!
The trailer is packed full of all kinds of awesomeness, including an amazing extended fight sequence between Batman and Deathstroke.
There’s also a couple other villain cameos revealed in the trailer as well.
Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on October 25, 2013, and the game can now be pre-ordered for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U.
 




Christopher Nolan rumored to direct the next James Bond film

(From Geeks of Doom) The chances of Christopher Nolan directing the next James Bond film are pretty slim considering the fact that he is already directing Interstellar for Paramount and Warner Brothers.
But what if the sci-fi film about traveling through wormholes starring Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, and Michael Caine, were to be cast aside so that Nolan could direct the next Bond film?
Hard to see that happen, but there is a rumor that is starting to surface that indicate that this could very well happen.
Considering that the report comes from The Daily Mail, this rumor could be nothing more than just a rumor.
According to them, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have begun informal talks with The Dark Knight Rises director.
But just because Nolan cannot direct Bond 24, doesn’t mean he cannot direct the one after it. As The Daily Mail said, “It does no harm for Broccoli and Wilson to talk with Nolan, even if nothing happens this time round.”
That line of thinking does make a lot of sense, but everyone’s schedules would have to be completely synced.
Nolan could possibly direct a Bond film at some point in time, but it all depends on how fast MGM wants to churn these Bond films out.
MGM wants the Bond 24 film to come out some time during 2014, so the one after it could be scheduled some time in 2016, which could fit in Nolan’s schedule.
