Douglas Mackinnon directing new Sherlock episode

(From Den of Geek) Following in the talented footsteps of former Doctor Who directors Colm McCarthy (currently knocking it out of the park with Peaky Blinders series 2), Toby Haynes, Nick Hurran, and of course, Euros Lyn, is Douglas Mackinnon, who announced on Twitter that his next job is on the BBC’s Sherlock.

Mackinnon, whose first Doctor Who story was 2008′s The Sontaran Strategem and who went behind the camera on no fewer than three of Doctor Who’s series eight episodes (Listen, Time Heist and Flatline) beat around no bushes with the Twitter announcement, which simply read:

“Next job, directing Sherlock.”
