Catch your own fish at this restaurant in Japan to save money

Zauo

(From Lost at e Minor) If you’re looking for one of the quirkiest restaurants to dine in while travelling through Japan, head to Zauo. It’s not just because this restaurant has a cool boat layout that makes this eatery popular. It’s because diners get to catch their own fish!

To catch your own fish you’ll need to purchase bait from the wait staff. Bait costs around ¥100-200 (US$0.80 – $1.70) and fishing rods are rented for free. Once you let the staff know what fish you’d like to catch and have cooked up, you can start fishing.

Staff is always on hand to offer advice (point and laugh), and once you’ve snagged yourself a fish, you choose how you’d like it to be cooked and then you enjoy your hard efforts with a hearty meal.

Oh yeah, and if you catch your own fish, your meal is cheaper by ¥600, so you might as well save money and go for it!
