Batman: Arkham City board game adaptation coming in 2013

Batman Arkham City board game

(From Polygn) Rocksteady’s action game Batman: Arkham City is being adapted for tabletops by Cryptozoic Entertainment, maker of card-based and board games based on The Walking Dead and World of Warcraft.

Cryptozoic’s upcoming board game, Batman: Arkham City Escape, is pitched as a two-player game that pits Batman against the rogues gallery of Arkham City.

Batman: Arkham City Escape will give one player control of Batman and a second control of twenty of Batman’s enemies in card-based battles of combat and strategy, Cryptozoic says, as the Dark Knight attempts to stop villains from escaping Arkham.

The board game is due in early 2013 and features an 18″ by 33″ game board, an 11″ by 18″ Utility Belt board, eight custom dice, two 40-card decks — one for Batman, one for the villains of Arkham City — and 46 additional cards.

Batman’s deck offers access to a variety of Utility Belt cards and associated special gadgets, while cards used by Arkham City’s inmates feature special abilities for taking hostages and escaping Batman’s clutches.

Batman: Arkham City Escape retails for $45.00 and is expected to launch in February.

Cryptozoic’s website offers a look at some of the board game’s cards, which use characters and assets from Batman: Arkham City.
